LeafXBramble: New Fire VIII

Six moons had passed since Squirrelflight's death. Jayfeather was the sole medicine cat of ThunderClan, since Leafpool's journey to StarClan.

Sorreltail had had two kits. One was a light brown tabby she-cat with white paws. The other was a tortoiseshell tom-kit. The queen named her kits Leafkit and Larkkit.

Jayfeather had also heard that Tawnypelt had giving birth to a kit, from Rowanclaw. The dark brown tom described the kit to look like the older Brambleclaw. Could there be a tie between the kits Leafkit and Bramblekit?

A few days passed as Jayfeather decided to go look for herbs.

The gray tom walked towards the ShadowClan-ThunderClan boundary-line. He heard a small cry. The tom ran passed a few trees and scented a she-cat....and blood.

"Who are you?" she cried, fear rang in her voice.

"My name is Jayfeather. What happened?"

"I-I'm having kits, but my mate fled when he scented cats near us...It was a large group." The she-cat pointed towards ShadowClan.

"How many?"

"At least five cats. I saw two of them. One was dark ginger-furred and the other had dark brown tabby fur."

"Russetfur and Tigerheart," he murmured. He looked at the she-cat.

The she-cat gasped. "You're blind!"

"Yes, yes," he growled. "Now just listen to me."

Jayfeather scented more blood as he helped the she-cat deliver her kits.

"Th-thank you, Jayfeather...Please watch over them as if they were your own...Who knows...maybe they are..." the she-cat whispered.

Jayfeather looked at the she-cat. His sightless eyes slitted. "What do you mean? I don't know you." Liar...Jayfeather...Liar, whispered a voice in his head.

"H-how? We were best friends! Its me, Nightbreeze!"

"Nightbreeze...Firestar said you were dead..."

"No, i turned rogue," she whispered," but that is the past. StarClan told me that this kit is yours...Please care for them..."

"I can't...They're dead..."

"No..."

Jayfeather softened his eyes and looked at her. "The first one was born dead, the second died when it hit the air...The third...she's nearly dead...And so are you..."

"I know...I lost too much blood to survive this..."

A wave a fear crept threw him.

"Please care for her...her name is Rainingkit...She has black fur with purple eyes...she-she has red on the tips of her fur...almost like chaos..." The she-cat laid her head down and closed her eyes. "Goodbye, mate..."
